Me And White Supremacy Workbook

Layla Saad developed a first-of-its-kind workbook to educate people with white privilege about their internalized racism and to facilitate personal and collective change to help dismantle the system of white supremacy. The Me And White Supremacy Workbook leads people through a journey of personal reflection and unlearning.

Consider bringing together a group of interested employees to work through the Me And White Supremacy Workbook together and support the group to meet and debrief their learnings.  

Layla has made her work free though we encourage people to make a voluntary financial payment to this project if they are able to do so.

Check Your White Privilege Discussion


Host a discussion with interested employees to understand Peggy McIntosh’s work on white privilege. 



Use "White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack" and "Some Notes for Facilitators" to guide a group discussion. 


2. Amplify Black Voices

We’re inspired by N.K. Jemisin's "How Long 'Til Black Future Month," and as such, we suggest engaging and sharing content about Black people who are shaping our collective future: technologists, innovators, authors, creators.

Books

Reading is one of the best ways to educate ourselves about history as well as to open our minds to the experiences of others.  Buy books written by Black authors, both fiction and non-fiction, and share them in the office.

Host podcast listening sessions by Black creators such as the new podcast, Modern Figures, highlights the importance of intersectionality in technology and guides a group discussion to debrief on learnings.

3. Support Black-Owned Businesses

Purchase from black-owned businesses in your city/country, whether it be the catered food you bring in for your team meetings, or the DJ you hire for your next event. Check out SHOPPE BLACK and BYBLACKS.
